Can You Break a 100-Trillion-Dollar Bill?

Written by Pat's Papers | Wednesday, 11 May 2011 8:48 AM

Zimbabwe just issued a 100-trillion-dollar bill says the Wall Street Journal. In New York, that would pay for two subway rides and some gum, if you could find one of those 25-cent packs. That’s because the huge bill—the biggest ever produced for legal tender—is only worth about $5. The country’s inflation has caused residents to carry huge bags of money to the store just to buy essentials. On eBay, however, it’s another story. The bill has become widely popular among collectors, bringing in almost 15 times what they’re worth.
