Call For Pharmacy Controls After Outbreak

13,000 people have been exposed to fungal meningitis after they were given tainted spinal injections. The Wall Street Journal says “state regulators, federal agencies and the pharmacy industry” are all to blame for the outbreak, which was caused in part by shoddy oversight. Compounding pharmacies, where customized versions of medicine are formulated, operate in a “regulatory black hole,” says the Journal.
