California Appeals Court Finds Prop. 8 Unconstitutional

A California Appeals Court found Proposition 8, the state’s ban on same-sex marriage, unconstitutional yesterday. The San Francisco Chronicle says the 2-1 ruling was “both historic and, perhaps more importantly, narrowly drafted.” The marriage ban is still in place, as the case moves to the state’s supreme court, but experts say yesterday’s decision will “improve its chances of survival.”
