Bus Driver Picks Up Wrong Students, Takes Them to Six Flags Instead of Class

This sounds like a mash-up of “Speed” and “The Magic Yellow School Bus”: The Bergen County Record says a group of students ended up on their way to an amusement park, rather than to class, after a bus driver mistakenly made the wrong pick up. The driver was supposed to pick up a group of middle schoolers who were headed to Six Flags but instead she arrived an hour early and picked up a group of high school students waiting for their daily ride to school. The paper says some students thought it was a joke, while others called their parents, thinking they had been abducted.

The driver apparently refused to talk to school administrators when the concerned students got them on the phone, saying it was against the law to drive and talk. School officials finally contacted police who stopped the bus on the New Jersey Turnpike. The Associated Press report on the incident says an officer rode with the students on the way back to school.
