Tuesdays, at 3 pm EST. That’s the best time to buy a plane ticket says the Wall Street Journal. Most airlines post sale fares on Monday night and by Tuesday, competitors have come back to their counteroffers. The deals typically last until Thursday when there is a spike in price, just in time for the weekend.  So there is, sort of, a “method behind the madness” behind airline fare pricing. Well, not quite. But there are certain patterns that a savvy consumer can pick up on. For one, never buy a ticket from Thursday to Monday—that’s when fares are at their highest.
