At VMAs, Gaga Prevails, Taylor Swift Fails and Kanye Nails It

Lady Gaga didn’t bother to wear a new dress to MTV’s Video Music Awards last night, but that didn’t stop her from taking home eight statuettes says the New York Daily News, winning in every category she was nominated. The pop sensation showed up wearing a dress designed by the late Alexander McQueen, one which eagle-eyed fashionistas noted she had on an issue of Vanity Fair last year.

The LA Times graded the performances at this year’s show, giving Taylor Swift a D for her new song, “Stealing Innocence,” which was apparently inspired by her run-in with Kanye West at last year’s ceremony. West, on the other hand, was awarded an A+ for his performance, with the Times commenting that “nothing about this new cut was musically obvious, opening with low-key earnestness and effortlessly moving into big-beat boldness.”
