American Idol: Ellen Leaves, J Lo May Join

Written by Pats Papers | Friday, 30 July 2010 7:24 AM

There’s been a different American Idol rumor every day this week, but the picture is becoming clearer. The post-Simon Cowell judging table won’t resemble the panel that led the show through its first nine seasons. Ellen DeGeneres announced yesterday that her first season with the show was her last. The LA Times says Fox “hustled out” out a news release yesterday to confirm her departure. She said the “Idol” time commitment weighed heavily into her decision, but that it was also hard for her “to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings.”

And several reports are pointing to Jennfier Lopez as one of the new judges. The New York Post says that’s part of an overhaul that may include removing Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson to start the show’s next season with a clean slate.
