Afghanistan Very Different than Iraq for Petraeus

The New York Times says President Obama’s decision to send General Petraeus to Afghanistan puts him in a situation similar to the one he faced in Iraq three years ago: hopeless. To succeed,the paper says General Petraeus “will need all of his skills — and a dose of good fortune at least as big as the one he received in Iraq.” The president nominated Petraeus to take over from General McChrystal, after his explosive interview with Rolling Stone became public.
