Advice: How to Get Rid of Pit Stains

Written by Pat's Papers | Wednesday, 11 May 2011 7:01 AM

They may be the most unwelcome part of summer: yellow armpit stains. The Wall Street Journal says more and more companies are trying to solve the perennial problem with new products aimed directly at the “yellowing phenomenon.” Unfortunately, one of the major culprits behind the “yellowing phenomenon” is antiperspirant residue, specifically the aluminum-based products, which dry cleaning experts say are nearly impossible to get rid of.

One piece of advice is to wash, not dry-clean shirts with pit stains—because they’re water-based, you need water to get them out. Another tip? Apply your deodorant before bed: it will absorb into your sweat glands as you sleep and won’t wash off in your morning shower.
