Girl Falls From Amusement Park Ride, Hits Ground From 40 Feet

Written by Pat's Papers | Saturday, 31 July 2010 9:15 AM

A Midwest amusement park is closed after a 12-year-old girl fell 40 feet and hit the ground because the net that was supposed to catch her was too close to the concrete. The Wisconsin State Journal says she was on something called Terminal Velocity, which bills itself as a “free fall thrill ride,” when the accident happened. The ride starts 140 feet in the air. The “diver” jumps off and falls 100 feet at speeds up to 52 mph. Apparently, the net that was supposed to catch her was too close to the ground and the girl smacked into the pavement. She is in critical condition.
