5AM: Best Hour in New York City

I’m in possession of a secret that, until temperatures soared this summer, it seemed like no one wanted in on: The 5-to-6 am hour is the coolest of the day. There’s a great New York Times article by Sam Dolnick about the hours just before the sun rises. He found only a handful of people taking advantage of the cooler morning temperatures but they all seemed to be appreciating the reprieve. One man interviewed at 5:30 am said “it’s the only time of day I enjoy.”
