Voluntary phone lock cuts service when driving

Sure, the easier solution is just to turn the phone off or not answer it if it rings while you’re driving. But if you prefer, says the New York Times, you can install a program that disables your phone when you’re driving so you’re not tempted.

 

For Senators, a “Streetcar named Opportunism”

How did Democratic leaders get their party’s final holdouts in the Senate to come on board to send the health care bill to debate?  Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank says the “streetcar named Opportunism” is delivering concessions to the states of those who had been holding out.

 

Your honor, our shampoo is better than theirs

American companies are increasingly using America’s favorite venue to debate the merits of product claims.  The New York Times reports on the willingness of companies to go to court to force their competitors to explain their advertising claims.

 

Too many pennies

A great statistic in the New York Times about the penny.  It accounts for 58% of U.S. coins. Yet it makes up just 7.5% of the dollar value in circulation.  In other words: pennies aren’t pulling their weight.
