Visitors to Illinois can see the birthplace of Ronald Regan and the family home of Abraham Lincoln. And now, they can see the place where Barack and Michelle Obama shared their first kiss. The Chicago Tribune says a plaque has been placed at a Baskin-Robbins in Hyde Park along with the president’s description of the date.

Since summer vacation season is upon us, the Wall Street Journal decided to ask pilots, people who see more of the country—and at a different vantage point—than most of us, about their favorite “scenic routes.” Hope for runway 29 when approaching Portland, Maine to get a spectacular view of the harbor, they say. And landing on LaGuardia’s Runway 22 offers up a beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan and Central Park.

There’s a nice interview with Steven Spielberg in the New York Times this morning. The occasion is the September 7th re-release of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” for the Imax. He says he’d be willing to direct a fifth Indiana Jones movie if George Lucas is prepared to write it.

Record Price Expected for 1936 Mercedes

Have an extra $16.4 million? That’s the expected price of a super rare 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster going up for sale this weekend. The LA Times says there are only about a dozen of this model left in the world. This one was hidden in a Connecticut barn for decades and looked like a time capsule when found, with pink lipstick-stained cigarettes in the ashtray and old maps of New York and Connecticut in the glove box.

Sick of Waiting for the Doctor? New App For That

Four college-bound students have developed an app that may end long waiting times in the doctor’s office, says the Staten Island Advance. Inspired by websites that allow passengers to track their flight status before heading to the airport, appointmentstatus.com allows a doctor to upload their schedule for the day and then sends text alerts to patients if their appointment is delayed.
