Pat’s Hair and Makeup Tips

Take it from a guy whose hair hasn’t changed since 1991—hairspray will always prevail over humidity.  Moving on, one should note that stubble tears paper baby wipes when they are used as a makeup remover. Try the cloth-like Costco wipes instead. Most makeup tutorials artfully avoid the word “stubble.” But I had to be honest when the Gothamist called me for some beauty tips.

Their query was not out of the blue—it was in response to a photo caption in the New York Daily News yesterday, which had me headed off to the “hair-and-makeup department” at NY1. When I read that I guffawed and promptly set the record straight: I am the hair-and-makeup department at NY1—at least for myself.

Intrigued, Gothamist’s Jen Carlson asked me to share my beauty tips. And somehow, I managed to come up with ten of them. To set the record straight, some of them are derived from observation (blue eye shadow advice) and not personal experience but I’m confident that following them will get you as close to a macho makeover as oxymoronically possible.

Perhaps it was the retro picture I sent to Gothamist, highlighting the persistence of my hairdo, but Animal New York also reacted to the revelation that it’s self-serve hair and makeup at NY1.
