The top story today, appearing in 15 newspapers, was news that two workers for the U.S. Consulate in Mexico, along with their husbands, were shot and killed as they made their way back from a child’s birthday party. A health care vote is expected this week, reported 14 papers. Obituaries for actor Peter Graves, who died at age 83, appeared on 13 front pages. Twelve publications reported that aggressive treatment for prevention of heart attacks and strokes in Type-II diabetics may be counterproductive and actually increase risks.
